Is your small business Massage Therapy?
I’m considering becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist, and would like to know of your experiences, especially challenges, in keeping tabs on the business. I understand the need for scrupulous records (mileage for ‘at home’ accounts, expenses for supplies, etc.), what all should I be doing to prepare for this project? A workshop at least, right? I have one friend with business savvy, and will consult w/her soon.
I’d be the sole employee, no others.
my mom just recently ended a two-year massage program at a community college. she is licensed and has invested in basic equipment i.e. massage table, chair, aromatherapy, hot stones, etc. she set up in our basement. one of the tasks of her classes were to give “homework massages” to a certain amount of people. they’d fill out a sheet with questions saying things they liked or didnt like about the massage. she could basically do these “homework massages” on anyone (of 18 yrs or older) and that was also a good way to get her name out there. she had business cards made and hands them out all over. she has started making a good amount of money for just starting off…
