What type of boot do I need for my cross country ski binding? (See picture)?
What type of Cross Country Ski Boot do I need for this binding (see link to picture)?
I have some very old cross country skis. What type of boot will work with this binding? Do you know what the type of binding is called?

I am not positive, but I am going to say that that binding is a 75mm Nordic Norm binding..aka a 3-pin binding. The placement of the mounting screws and the wide base do not suggest that it is an NNN, NNN-BC, or SNS binding. I believe if you push forward on the red lever the entire thing will move forward and that the white plate on the bottom will angle up. If that is the case, then I am correct. I believe Garmont and Alpina make boots that will fit that binding.
I used to sell XC skis and bindings. It is definietely not an NNN, NNN-BC, or SNS binding that has been made within the last ten years. However, we used to see some funky old stuff come into the shop from time to time. People would be looking for new boots to fit old binding systems and we would just end up selling them a new binding too because some binding styles have been discontinued and no one makes boots for them anymore.
The thing that is sort of throwing me off with this picture is the litle ridge that is in the center of the binding. My own 3-Pin boots do not have a place theat ridge would fit into and the ridges on current NNN, NNN-BC, and SNS boots don’t match that either.
If you totally strike out with getting boots to fit that binding it’s not that bad. New XC bindings can run anywhere from $45-$85 if you hit a sale or deal. Similarly, the newer stuff is easier to use as well.
