Do I need to be licensed to administer Ultrasound Heat Therapy?
I have a few certifications (STNA, Performance Massage and Triggerpoint Therapy) and I have experience administering Ultrasound Heat Therapy at the office I work at, but I am not a lisenced Massage/Physical Therapist or Cosmetologist. I’d like to open my own business and administer Hot Stone Massage, Ultrasound Heat Therapy, Facials, etc. Do I need to be licensed for this? Thanks!
You would most likely need to be working under a licensed physical therapist, chiropractor or MD. In otherwords, you do not need to be licensed to administer it, but you need a licensed health care professional to determine if its appropriate to be administered. There are several cases in which you would not want to administer it, and it can be dangerous if applied at the inappropriate frequency, power and/or time.
