Types Of Services In Occupational Therapy?
I did a day’s work experience in an occupational therapy department a few months ago.
It was in a hospital and the OT’s worked with people who had suffered a stroke and were left with disability. They were unable to go home because they had trouble with their home situation. The OT’s worked with social services to arrange for service user to into a nursing home, residential home or were taken home and given a care package. If they were taken home the OT worked with them to teach them easier ways to do their daily activities.
I have a university interview tomorrow to get on to study occupational therapy.
They have given me a sheet to fill out and it asks what service i have done work experience in.
But I don’t know what the service is called (the one i have described at the top).
Is it called Physical Occupational Therapy, or Acute Occupational Therapy or something else?

You were observing in a medical/surgical OT setting (as opposed to a rehab or outpatient setting).
…it might also be considered “acute” (although where I work, we consider “acute” to be the inpatient rehab unit and med/surg to be the hospital).
