when i finish college i want to have my own business at home but…?
i don’t know if i have to have permission? i’m going to be doing beauty therapy and hair dressing & i was looking into turning a room in the house into a little salon, have a massage bed, etc. it won’t be nothing serious, but just to practise and bring in a little bit of extra money. but yeah, do i need permission to do that or no?
it’s not going to be a full on proper salon, just going to have a massage bed, etc but i’m going to obviously charge a bit .thats it!
You do have to have permission to trade from a residential address. If you have a mortgage then you need the permission of the mortgage lender. If you rent, then you need the permission of the owner or landlord. You also need permission of the local council. If the property is leasehold then the landowner may have a stipulation that the property is to be used solely for residential purposes. Or, as in my case, the deeds to the property state that the property cannot be used for business purposes. Your insurance company also needs to know otherwise you could find yourself uninsured following an incident. You cannot simply start trading from a private address – there is quite a lot to look into.
