Basics of a Career in Massage Therapy?
well im thinking of a career in massage therapy and i was just wondering what the basics are.. by that i mean..:
how is the pay?? is it minimum, average, or above average depending on how good you are..?
how are the hours for the most part?? is it like early in the morning or late at night or what??
how long should each massage last for the most part?? (full body)
thanks in advance!! o also please please PLEASE dont judge me by how young i sound or whatever.. thanks again!!

First of all, make sure you are very comfortable touching all kinds of people. Fat, smelly, dirty, emaciated, old, greasy, hairy, etc.
The pay depends on where you work. Of course an up-scale spa or resort will give you a good wage or commission, and they provide the clients, the table, sheets, oils, etc. If you have your own place, you can charge whatever you want (and keep it all, lol) but you have to find clients, pay for everything mentioned above, plus rent and heat for you building etc.
Again, if you work for yourself, you can set your own hours. However, full-time for a massage therapist is very different from full-time for an office worker. Giving a massage is very tiring. A full-time massage therapist does an average of 20 hour-long massages a week. Yup, 20 hours a week. Some do more, some do less. It varies from person to person and how much you can handle.
A full-body massage generally lasts for an hour to an hour and a half.
Also, in most states to be a massage therapist, you need to be certified, which usually includes about 500 hours of massage training and LOTS of anatomy classes. If you don’t like human anatomy, don’t pursue massage. Just a warning. Anyway, certification varies from state to state, so just Google “(your state) massage therapist certification” and I’m sure you’ll find it.
You could also contact your local community or technical college and see if they offer massage classes.
Sorry it’s so long, but I hope I helped!
