Is it better to POWER WALK 2.5 hours a night or do an hour of cardio at the gym?
So thats my question, When I walk at night its usually around 20KM.
I’ve Been doing both just don’t know what I should stick with for weight loss. ( I want to lose 10 pounds in a month )
When I do cardio at the gym it’s usually stairstepper for 30 elliptical for 30.. Which is more effective or are they the same?
Thanks
I’ll be doing cardio everyday.
I don’t know how does 30 strepper compare to power walking. There are, however, time vs calorie tables that factor in time. Your answer to the last question would be contained there.
As far as your first question: “Is it better to POWER WALK 2.5 hours a night or do an hour of cardio at the gym?”
25-35 min in the gym is better if you do
- 5 min of warm up
- 3-5 intervals of the following:
3 minutes of cardio at a pace you’re comfortable with (yet more challenging than the warm up).
2 minutes of cardio at a challenging pace.
- 5 minutes of cool down.
The table I mentioned shows running as the activity that burns the most calories of all. It is significantly greater than power walking. So, if your challenging pace is running at any given speed. Those 6-10 minutes will go a long way even if you only do cardio 3 times a week.
I personally started doing 3 minutes of warm up, 2 sets of 2 minutes jogging to 1 minute running, and 3 minutes of cool down. then I increase the number of sets in the middle to 5. I just did it until I was comfortable with the pace before I increased the number of sets, then the speed… finally the time…
You might want to use the gym 3-4 times a week and power walk the days in between.
Again… 25 minutes as described above will take you a long way.
Now, as far as weight loss:
Even dr oz said that weight (alone) is UNIMPORTANT here around minute 1:
On a side note, I don’t count calories, but I do lift weights.
