What’s up with my neck?
Ever since I used my Teeter HangUps Inversion Table the top of my spine/back of my neck messed up. I can hear bones crunching very loudly everytime I turn my head either way. It’s been about a year and seems to be getting worse. I don’t have pain from it. What’s up and should I be worried?
There are many causes for the sound that you hear when you turn your neck. Your joints are meant to move and sometimes they make sound when they do so, which is fine as long as you’re not having any pain. You can experiment with loosening up, which may help; I’ve found that moving in one plane of motion at a time (ear to shoulder or twisting with the eyes horizontal) is safer and easier than rolling through all directions at once.
However, you say that feel like it’s getting “worse” which means you might want to get it checked out just in case. It goes without saying that you would want to see someone who specializes in the neck and spine. You could see a Doctor of the Spine (which would be a Chiropractor), and perhaps a physical therapist or an orthopaedist. They’ll be able to determine if there is injury and if it is bone, soft tissue, muscle or a combination and then they’ll be able to provide stretches and treatment that will assist your neck in healing. You may even discover some natural, non-chemical ways to treat it. You want to make sure that none of your discs are at risk of degeneration and a Chiropractor would certainly be able to tell you that with some x-rays and examination. Best of luck to you!
