How can I get my garage zoned?
I am a licensed massage therapist and I want to make my garage into a two floor apartment/business. The bottom floor would be a spa like setting complete with waiting room, table, etc and the top floor would be my apartment. I made some phone calls and was told that my garage wasnt zoned for an apartment or business. I know there are always ways around these things. Any ideas?
You have to apply for a zoning change or a conditional use permit, which will require a visit to the Planning Commission in your town. The Zoning administrator will review the application and plan, then forward it to the commission for their review. They will have to schedule a public hearing so your neighbors can weigh in, so expect the process to take about 3 months. Hope this helps.
