My guppies and platties are dying?
I bought 3 guppies (2F/1M) and 4 platties (2F/2M) 8 days ago. Since then, 6 guppies including 4 guppies I already had before them and 2 of the platties died. I have 5 neon tetras, 5 barbs, 2 flame tetras with them in 100 litre tank. Also one of the new guppy I bough (which is died now) had about 45 babies 5 days ago. None of the babies died and they seem really healthy and happy in the nursery. I checked the water and ph level was fine but I changed about 1/4 of water yesterday anyway and the water level is still fine. Why my fish are dying while the babies are doing really well. All of my fish but guppies and platties are doing well too and no sign of illness. I check my dead fish one by one before I bury them but I do not find any missing part from the bodies. Any idea???
sounds like a biofilter problem. Adding 7 fish to any tank is hard on the biofilter to adjust, let alone 45 new fry. In short your biofilter has to control waste for 52 new fish. No biofilter can do that.
Too many fish added too quickly without letting the biofilter readjust.
