Does Photodynamic Therapy for acne really work?
I’ve had acne for years, and honestly, I’m getting tired of having a red face in pictures, the oily skin, and of course, the pain from my pimples =/ I wash my face twice a day, tried Neutrogena and other skincare products, but nothing seems to work.

Blue light therapy (also known as photodynamic therapy or PDT) works on acne by effectively killing the bacteria that causes it. This bacteria is called P. acnes bacteria and resides on the skin. When combined with oil and dead skin cells, this can create a clogged pore and a pimple. The blue light helps to shrink the sebaceous glands, reduce the amount of oil on the skin and help acne heal faster.
The side effects of light therapy for acne are typically mild. You might feel as though you’ve had a sunburn on your face, and you may look red or feel as though your skin is tight and dry. Some people may even experience peeling. More severe side effects include pain, blisters, crusting and scabbing, scarring, change in skin coloration, swelling, infection and cold sores.
