What are some ideas for a physical therapy inservice?
I’m doing a clinical in acute care and have to give an inservice on a topic related to physical therapy in the acute care setting.
Any ideas?
1. Best protocols for TKA and THA.
2. Cranial nerve assessment
3. Physician owned physical therapy services – depending on your site and the PTs there, this may be a very contentious topic.
4. Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement
5. Role of the APTA if you are American, or your local national PT association. Does your school require APTA membership?
6. Some hospitals have pre-operation programs for people who will have back surgery or TKA/THA. Does your site have such a program? If not, you might want to see if there is any research or information on this.
7. Effects of co-morbidities on recovery from back/TKA/THA surgery. What are the factors indicating a good or not good outcome? I think that Physical Therapy journal has had some recent articles on factors that affect outcome after TKA.
