What is the evidence based reasoning for homosexuality being ‘choice’ or ‘set’?
I’m a physics student so this isn’t my speciality and I’m defo much much better at genetics/evolution than psychology.
What is the evidence for the beliefs of homosexuality being a choice or not?
I’m using choice as meaning a conscious decision and set as a genetic disposition and/or subconscious/mentally ingrained decision but please discern between the latter two.
Notes: I’m atheist and also like legit (nonwikipedia) sources v. much.
Jake, When I took our male dog to the Vet I asked him why other male dogs kept trying to mount him? He said it was because he was being perceived as a female by his scent. He then went on to tell me that animals were no different than humans in that genetics/DNA determine sex. Sometimes they get screwed-up and we are born externally one sex but internally, mentally and sometimes partially physically wired the other. I think in humans most gays and lesbians are born that way but I feel sure that for a few it was a conscious choice. I know that many will disagree and they might be right. I just go by what the Vet said and try to use my observations and common sense. I agree with you about Wiki and suggest you continue to search for a scientific explanation if you can find one. I think the Political Correctness issue is involved and we may not find published proof for some time. Anyway my dog, my wife and I really don’t care one way or the other. Good Luck
