Medicine question for 12 yo ADHD kid?
My son is 12 yo and takes 40 mg of Adderall XR daily for his ADHD. He has developed a nervous tick of pulling out his hair. I noticed today that he is missing chunks for his eyelashes where he has picked. He doesn’t even realize that he is doing this.
Is there another med. that will work and doesn’t have the same side effects? I hesitate to take him off of his meds b/c every time we do, his grades drop into the toilet. We need to solve this problem prior to school starting end of AUgust. Please do not lecture me about medicating children who are ADHD. That isn’t the question. Nor do I want a lecture about the benefits of herbal, holistic, chiropractic, accupuncture, etc. We have tried everything prior to putting him on meds to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. I’m looking for a viable, valid solution that includes medications for ADHD.
