Question about hormone replacement therapy and blood clots.?
I’m a 29 year old female that is on hormone replacement therapy. I’ve been to the hospital recently and he told me and my fiance that I am at a great risk of getting blood clots because of the HRT and because I smoke about 2 packs of cigs a day. He also told us what the symptoms to look out for like leg pains and chest pains. I have developed both but my question is this Where in your leg does a blood clot usually begin to form. Please help me.
Most clots form at a place where blood flow is either impeded by some sort of constriction or narrowing of the blood vessels.
Towards the feet, circulation may not be great to start with – especially for someone living with diabetes for example. Id addition if you are seated a lot, then deep vein thrombosis can also become an issue.
Has he suggested that you perhaps take half or a whole asprin each day? If nt, it may be worth asking him if he might recommend this. It DOES help to prevent premature clotting.
