There are so many types of therapies out there, which one is right for…?
someone who has been abandoned by their mother at birth, sexually abused by a carer during childhood, was bullied at school and was emotionally abused at home by their parents?
There are a lots of therapies like cognitive therapy, sexual abuse therapy…integrative psycho dynamic…the list goes on..but which do you offer someone in the above position on a weekly basis?
I would suggest a humanstic therapist to start. Someone who subscribes to Carl Rogerts person-centered philosophy. I think that would be the most advantageous to you at this point in your life. Later on, after you work out some of your inner issues, you may want to switch to a cognitive behavior therapist in order to iron out the details you want to fix and identify cognitive distortions and modify them.
