should you get physical therapy to body areas where bones were fractured but did not heal?
I had a broken ankle 6 months ago. The bones did not heal. The doctor sent me to physical therapy.
Should he have waited until the bones healed? The casthe put on did not lead to healing of the broken bone.
In cases of non-union fractures, it sometimes pertinent to begin some PT…because the effects of PROLONGED immobility are sometimes worse than the risk moving it.
I’d discuss with your physician use of a bone stimulator which can be used at home to help stimulate bone growth.
If you are allowed to begin moving it and putting weight on it, it’s OK to start PT
