I am considering buying an inversion bar to do pull-ups and hang inverted to stretch my lower spine….?
What are your suggestions? I have never use one before. I had a protruding disk in my lower spine a couple of months ago that was VERY painful and I had to have a steroid injection. The pain is now all gone, but I am considering the bar to help stretch and hopefully help prevent it from happening again in the future. I am 38 and about 200 pounds.
200 pounds is a lot of weight to hang inverted, I wouldn’t worry so much about your spine as I would your hips. They are not accustomed to the weight being pulled from that direction, they are used to bearing the weight. You could easily dislocate your hips doing that. Try out an inversion bench or bar before you buy one, or you may regret the purchase.
