My hair clipper is down to a non-functioning soft buzz (no it’s not an oil problem)? Can you help?
I already tried oiling the blades, and also I cleaned out a whole bunch of hair I didn’t even know was there.
Sure this clipper is like 10 years old (and was just fine a month ago) but all of a sudden, maybe due to banging (I gave it a few shakes when it started dying) – the clipper doesn’t do a thing, is almost undetectable in the vibration, and is a sad case now.
Now, mind you, the top clipper is held to the bottom one with two screws. If I loosen the screws, or even take off the blades, those two metal pieces vibrate so loudly and vibrantly as before. But screwing the blades down back on it, it becomes this ridiculously soft hum again, and can’t cut a thing.
Can you help me fix it? I don’t think the solution is buying another one – it seems to be a physical problem, not electrical or even mechanical.

I have Oster “Adjustable” – don’t know if that helps. But even adjusting the blade forwards and back helps not.
if you opened it and cleaned out the hair, then the blades may need to be replaced. That would be my first solution besides the ones you did, another is wear and tear on the motor or the vibrating pieces. it is just like a car, all mechanical equipment goes some times.
