Navy SEAL or Physical Therapist?
I have recently been accepted to physical therapy school. However, I feel as though I have been “called” towards a career in the military. More specifically the Navy SEALs. I am in tremendous cardiovascular shape, a marathoner, a triathlete, and soon to be Ironman triathlete. Because of these activities, I know that BUDs training for the SEALs would be tough but a bit more manageble (atleast the physical portion).
Physical therapy is an awesome field to get into right now, however, physical therapy school does not have an age limit, and BUDs does. So, I feel as though I am in a dilemma as to what I should chose to do.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks.
If you are under an age constraint, join the BUDs program first. As you said, there is no limit to age in PT school. In fact, military experience will not only help you pay for school, but also will be an asset to your graduate school application. They want people who can accept responsibility and demonstrate good leadership skills.
There will be time for PT school later.
The only thing you might want to consider is that your prerequisites are only good for 5 years. If you’ve taken them already, don’t wait more than this time to apply to PT school…otherwise you’ll have to do them over again.
