Therapeutic Massage?
I am looking to go back to school and there are a couple of things I think I may be interested in. One of which is therapeutic massage and I was wondering if anyone out there who is going to school for it or is a masseuse could maybe tell me what the pros/cons are and what to expect? Is it good salary? Thanks so much!
Its hard work. Depending on what state your in the requirements are usually a state or national exam. The pay is better if you do it on your own, but then you will have to do your own marketing. My education was 13 months long and cost $10,000- you have to take physiology, anatomy, kinesology, you have to learn the action, origin and insertion point for all the superficial (and some deep) muscles, you have to learn all the necessary tests to diagnose, even though you cannot diagnose. So know that it is not going to be a simple thing. Lots of studying involved and its not for everyone. Pay at a spa is 60/40 average, the 40 being your split, if you work for a chiro you might get 50/50 or 40/60.
