is sunscreen unhealthy?
I am 20 years old and wear sunscreen daily to hopefully help put off aging of the skin and skin damage caused by UV rays.
I was trying to find which type of sunscreen is better – physical (titanium/zinc oxides, which block rays) or chemical (avobenzate, etc) that absorb rays.
So I was doing some research though and found that both chemical and physical sunscreens are dangerous for the skin because they react with photons and these reactions damage the skin nuclei, causing skin damage and even cancer.
What gives?? It doesn’t seem right that not wearing sunscreen would be better than wearing it, especially when exposed to lots of sun..
It’s totally healthy and necessary. You will still get vitamin D even if you wear sunscreen. I use this one brand which I love. La Roche Posay has a sunscreen moisturizer that is the only FDA approved (in the last 20 years) sunscreen on the market. It has both Mexoryl and Anthelios.
