A question about cosmetology?
I have asked this a while back but I just wanna make sure. Okay, so I want to go to this beauty school. They have two educational programs; Cosmetology and Esthetics. I want to go for Cosmetology. They say in the Cosmetology program that they perform “esthetics such as skin treatments and makeup application”, but I think they only do facials and that’s it. :S While in the Esthetics page, they say how they teach you about advanced facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, laser and light therapy, mask therapy, non-therapeutic massage, tweezing, waxing and makeup application.
Do cosmetologists do all that above? Or do they just clean the skin and that’s it? Thank you!
Cosmetology programs which are normally about 1200 – 1600 hours in length will only go into basic skin treatments, where the Esthetics program will be more in-depth.
In cosmetology training, you will learn fundamentals of:
facials
masks
makeup application
Most of the other stuff in Cosmetology is centered around hair care.
