Do women have a better chance at a career in massage therapy than men?
I’ve been considering a career in massage therapy. My sister, who is a license massage therapist, says that the clients she talks to all go to her because she’s a woman. According to her, both the women and men say they wouldn’t go to a male therapist, because they wouldn’t be comfortable. I’m just wondering, is it just this small Texas town’s way of thinking, or is this pretty much a general way of thinking?
There are some gender issues in the massage profession but there are also many successful male massage therapists. You have have enough self esteem to not take it personally and to find a market to work with.
I actually prefer men to massage me because they are stronger and they usually don’t talk as much!
