Repainting drywall?
So I went out and bought these materials to paint a wall damaged by mounting squares (basically just chunks of paint peeled off):
- 32 oz. of DryDex Spackling
- (2) fine sanding sponges
- (2) medium sanding sponges
- 3″ putty knife
I’m assuming I should remove some of the leftover sticky mounting on the wall before getting to the spackling.
But if someone could walk me through this process step by step from here, that would be great.
(I know I don’t have the paint yet, but I want to get through the spackling first)
Make sure that your dry wall is clean and lightly sand down the affected area.If there are any areas that are still sticking out, ding it slightly with a hammer so as to accept the new spackle. Once the first coat dries, sand it down lightly again then give it one more coat the next day, Sand it down again and dust off the wall before painting. Don’t forget to primer first! Good luck , Jim
