How much would studying to be a physical therapists assistant help for the study of massage therapy?
If I wanted to get into massage therapy in the near future and studied for physical therapist assistant now, how much will they cross over or just basically reinforce one another?
I don’t quite consitder massage therapy to be an alternative medicine but it seems most people do so I put my question here.
And I don’t understand why there are always statements like this
” but we focus much more on evidence based treatments”
That is saying massage therapy isn’t evidence base and usually hokey.
My back was bound up once and my only other option at the time was muscle relaxers ” which I couldn’t get cuase people are jerks when it comes to backs”
but if I didn’t have a deep tissue massage my back would have went out, my muscles just trying to pull it out of line..
And I know plenty of times when my muscles really could have used some well trained hands to betterment.
At this moment I can get funding for pta but not massage therapy
well the basics would be covered, like what muscles are where, and what happens if one gets sprained, hurt, tense, etc. also, pt will likely teach you how to massage out the kinks, or untense the muscles. however, that being said, you will probably still have to go to a massage therapy school, or take classes covering it. they cross over a lot, but are not the same.
