How do I start up my own beauty therapy mobile business?
I am 20 and have been working full time in a salon for over 2 years now. However, I never realised how rubbish the money would be. I am getting £6 an hour. Is that normal for someone with my experience? So I was thinking that the best thing for me to do was to start my own mobile business. I have all the stuff that I need (wax pot, massage bed, tinting stuff, manicure and pedicure stuff etc.) so ive got pretty much everything I need anyway. I would just like to get some advise. Like how do I start getting all my clients. Surely I can’t just take them from the salon I work at. Is it idea to have a seperate phone to use for clients? And is it a good idea to make some leaflets and deliver them around? Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks
For a start, I am not a salon owner or beauty therapist but I am a small business marketing expert. It sounds like your hourly rate is very low considering your profession and experience. I think its a great idea to be looking at setting out on your own.
I would get a website and aim to get on page 1 of google for “beauty therapy” and your local area. I would also get business cards developed and give them to friends and family to give out. You could get a local phone number or just use a mobile.
I would suggest an opening offer to make you cheaper than local salons which will attract a client base, once you are established you can increase the price
